                    College Preparatory Programs

                    College Counseling   •   Students can speak to a Student Services Coordinator one-on-one about the college application process and receive help with applications, financial aid, and scholarships.
                    SAT Prep Course   •   The SAT Prep Course helps students prepare for the SAT. It has 4 components: 3 subject areas (reading, writing, and math) that will be covered during instruction Monday through Friday and simulations on Saturdays that are used to familiarize students with test taking procedures. One course will be offered in the weeks prior to each scheduled SAT Test date. 
                    College Seminar   •   The College Seminar is a supplemental 3 day course before SAT Prep Courses to familiarize students with the college application process. It includes information on applications, deadlines, scholarships, and financial aid, guides students through major and college selection, and prepares students for the culture shock of off-island universities. 
                    CAPP (College Application Process for Parents) Workshop   •   The CAPP workshop is a version of the “College Seminar” but is geared toward parents. Information on the college application process, deadlines, scholarships, and financial aid will be discussed.

                    Outreach Programs

                    Outreach Workshops   •   Teachers can contact PiCED to bring our services directly into the schools. PiCED can present classroom workshops on many educational topics like public speaking, the college application process, multiple intelligences & learning styles, and critical thinking & life skills. 
                    Teacher Training   •   PiCED works with groups of teachers to provide training and development workshops on a number of effective teaching strategies and methods like Lesson Mastery, Classroom Management, Positive Expectations, and Instructional Alignment. 

                    Enrichment and Leadership Programs

                    Summer School   •   PiCED holds one summer school session from June-July to give students an opportunity to enhance their skills. A variety of courses in math, english, computers, and leadership are offered. 
                    Leadership & Service Learning Courses   •   PiCED offers leadership courses which are often paired with a service learning initiative. The leadership courses are designed to teach students about the foundations of leadership, valuable life skills, and their personal leadership styles. During the hands-on service learning initiative, students practice their leadership skills as they design and implement a service project. 
                    Youth Leadership Institute   •   Youth Leadership Institute is a one day event held in May that brings together high school youth from across the island. While the theme and activties vary from year to year, the Institute's core objective, to inspire the American Samoa youth to be active leaders in their communities, remains the same.  
                    YES! Summer Internship Program   •   The YES! Program is held in conjunction with PiCED Summer School eac June and July. YES! participants participate in 1) a series of Leadership Workshops and 2) a 5 week internship which a local business/organization. The goal of the YES! Internship Program is to provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a field of their interest so that they can be better prepared for their future in the competitive work force.
                    Special Program! Youth Serving Samoa Project (Sept 2010 - March 2011)   •   The YSS Project was a 6 month tsunami-relief grant project with a focus on youth-led service learning. The project aimed to educate the American Samoan children and teen population on disaster preparedness. The project had 2 parts. 1) Students designed and implemented clean up and beautification projects in 6 villages that were devastated by the 9/29/2010 tsunami 2) Students developed and implemented a youth-to-youth disaster preparedness campaign. 
                    Special Programs   •   PiCED continually develops and offers special projects aimed at academic and personal enrichment. 

                    Literacy Programs

                    Lending Library   •   Members of the community can borrow books for up to two weeks at no cost. The library is continually updated to include the most popular young adult books and has an emphasis on young adult series.

                    Computer Programs

                    PC Computer Lab   •   PiCED has 18 free access PC computers available to the public during lab hours. 
                    Mac Lab & Mac Lab Computer Courses   •   The Mac Lab contains 10 iMac computers. While the lab is not freely open to the general public, anyone can enroll in the Mac Computer Courses like MAC 1100: Introduction to Macs and MAC 2100: iMovie & Video Making. The lab is equipped with all iLife software as well as the Adobe Creative Suites 5 package (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional). If you know how to uses these programs and would like to schedule lab time, please contact us. 

                    ** Note on all PiCED Programs: Programs vary from year to year and not all courses are offered at the same time. Please check with the PiCED office to find out about programs being offered now.
